OK Cupid Personality Traits June 2017
I recently put my ok cupid account on hiatus because I was wasting too much time reading profiles and I prefer to spend all of my free time focusing on my career. Here are my personality traits from June. I don’t think I’ve changed much since then, so if you think you’d like to have a date with me contact me via Facebook or at info@margieschnibbe.com. For the past few years I’ve mostly dated young guys for sex but now I’m thinking maybe I should go for an older guy with some money who wants to support the arts. BTW- I’m still on Tinder which takes much less time to navigate and no one cares about your personality traits there anyway. Much less of a time-drain.

Young MC-Bust a Move: The 1st Song I Hear in My Head after Reading My Last Blog Post
During my last semester as a BFA undergraduate in sculpture at Kansas City Art Institute I supported myself by go-go dancing at a dive bar/strip joint called Gus Goldmine in downtown KC. All of the dancers performed to songs on the jukebox and Bust a Move by Young MC was one of my favorites. I had my senior thesis show/art school graduation at the go-go bar. It was a performance and photo installation. I danced, all of my co-workers danced, and the art kids and regular customers gave all of us girls tips. It was lots of fun but very un-pc. I was protesting the patriarchy but the feminists did not understand and my white male sculpture teachers were even more clueless and did not attend. I will look for pics in my slide archives and post as soon as I can find and scan them. Of course there is lots more to say about my midwest experience. Stay tuned for more.

Yum-Yum Donuts and Winchell’s Donut House are One and the Same
I rarely eat donuts anymore but I love them! My studio is near a Yum-Yum Donuts and if you follow me on Instagram you will often see Yum-Yum donuts listed as my location.
In 1990, when I was completing my undergraduate degree in sculpture at Kansas City Art Institute I wrote a poem about Winchell’s Donut House. At the time I liked to work in the studio all night and would hang out at a local Winchell’s Donut House for fuel and inspiration. I was on a macrobiotic diet and rarely drank alcohol and did not smoke weed, so caffeine and sugar were my drugs of choice. And cigarettes of course! Back in the day you could smoke cigarettes everywhere!

Bonus Material:
We did not have Winchell’s where I grew up – we had Duncan Donuts. And the Duncan Donuts in Hartsdale, NY. where I had spent many marijuana-infused nights as a teenager is still open. I remembered that it was near the pet cemetery and that’s still there too. Sounds like a day trip the next time I’m back home visiting my mother!
From Wikipedia: In 2005, it (Winchell’s) withdrew from the Kansas City area, and most locations became Krispy Kreme.

Indecent Exposure Now Online (Yay!)
Thanks to requests from friends who were unable to attend my xxx video retrospective at Human Resources, I have put the program online. The Indecent Exposure program guide now contains links to all of the streaming videos. I would like to exhibit this ninety-nine minute video program in NYC in a gallery or not-for-profit space. If anyone has any leads or recommendations please email me.

Art Making Art Moving Art Storage

These works (2007-2012) have appeared in my videos, in interviews online and in print, and at an open studio I hosted. During these years I exhibited and sold other works through galleries, but not these particular pieces. One artist friend told me “Put this work away and start over” and eventually that is what I did. All the work was moved in September 2014 and now everything is here with me at the studio and in my shipping container. One day I hope to find a good home for all of this work!
